String Figure Navaho

Vannerie d'Afrique ou d'Asie, tressage de tiges, brins et cordes, le fil est un élément conducteur dans le travail du studio. La série des String Figures est issue de nos recherches sur les lignes et figures tracées par le passage et l'enchevêtrement d'un fil sur lui-même, et témoigne des jeux d'imagination existants dans les communautés ancestrales, comme chez les Inuits ou certaines tribus d'Indiens d'Amérique.

Basketry from Africa or Asia, weaving of stems, strands and cords, thread is one driving element in the work of the studio. The String Figures series is the outcome of our research on the lines and figures drawn by the passage and entanglement of a thread over itself, and testifies to the games of imagination existing in ancestral communities, such as the Inuit or certain tribes of American Indians.
